Abhi joined the MAXIMA team in early 2021 and is the lead for Corporate Development and Deal Execution, from deal origination to successfully helping companies undergoing merger, acquisition, divestiture, and restructuring transactions. Abhi also helps companies with capital raising and strategic business valuations.
He brings with him a broad range of experience in Accounting, Finance, Risk & Compliance, and M&A. Prior to joining MAXIMA, he worked for an oil and gas company and a tier one bank within the Mid-Market Mergers & Acquisition group where he advised companies on divestitures, acquisitions, and buyouts with successful closed transactions totalling $1.8 billion in enterprise value. He also worked for a big 4 accounting firm, where he obtained the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, working with a diverse portfolio of clients ranging from large public oil & gas clients to not-for-profit organizations.

Part of the MAXIMA team since 2014, Clayton has prepared the valuation, marketing, due diligence, and transaction processes for more than 100 M&A-related projects. Before joining the MAXIMA Group, he performed post-acquisition audit support for a large operator of consumer entertainment facilities and provided research and financial consulting to evaluate the viability of a $2 billion dollar international transportation project.
Earlier experience includes working for a major Canadian telecommunications company, where he analyzed distressed assets and helped qualify strategic acquisition targets. He also supported business development and operational improvements in its commercial services division.
Clayton has experience as a copywriter and journalist, covering diverse areas such as economics, finance, energy markets, electronic entertainment, and culture. He also writes pro-oil, pro-pipeline articles for CAEPLA’s quarterly Pipeline Observer magazine.

Matthew joined the MAXIMA team at the start of 2022. As a financial analyst with MAXIMA, Matthew assists clients through the transaction process by preparing financial analyses for corporate valuations, conducting market research, and assembling marketing materials. Prior to joining MAXIMA, Matthew worked as a financial analyst for an acquisition and management firm where he provided advisory services correlated to assessing risk and evaluating micro and macro-economic trends in addition to providing support in the valuation, marketing, and ongoing reporting and analysis of six portfolio companies.
Earlier experience includes working in the oil and gas industry, where he participated in monthly reporting, service line forecasts, utilization reports, and tasks aligned to analyzing cost and revenue projections.
Matthew holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Hons) with a major in finance from Mount Royal University and is currently in the process of pursuing a CFA designation.

Meet Louise Poropat, Operations Manager at MAXIMA, who joined the team in 2020. Louise brings over 20 years of high-level corporate management experience to the MAXIMA team, and plays a key role in providing corporate administration and project support while ensuring the successful day to day operations of the business.
Prior to joining MAXIMA Louise had roles in a range of industries including Hospitality and Property Management, Labour Relations, Land Development and Residential Construction. We are glad to have Louise onboard the MAXIMA team, and appreciate her contributions to the mutual success of our clients and the company.
Fred has over 35 years of experience in the downstream oil and gas industry. As Vice President of Petro-Canada’s downstream marketing business, Fred was directly responsible for the strategic, operational, and financial performance of Canada’s largest retail and wholesale network. Fred was also responsible for acquisitions and divestitures to improve asset efficiency and market share while developing and implementing action plans to ensure Suncor met its commitments to the Competition Bureau of Canada, ensuring approval of its merger with Petro-Canada.
Since retiring in 2011, Fred has continued to expand his knowledge and expertise across several industry verticals including; oil and gas, consumer products, energy utilities, and the Government of Canada. Fred has worked with the Competition Bureau of Canada as an industry expert evaluating mergers and acquisitions in the downstream energy industry. He has also worked with large private equity firms and hedge funds developing strategic options, profit improvement action plans, and implementing asset divestment decisions to maximize value creation for shareholders.
Fred holds a Bachelor of Commerce in finance from the University of Calgary and completed the Executive Business Program at the Ivey Business School.
